BIOGRAPHY
de la banda

Jim and Rob have been under long-term care for decades.  Fortunately, much of it has been together, if not at the same institutions, at least in the same city - giving them the chance to engage in repeated abuse of the art form of music, both on radio and in the studio.  They first played together while both were jammin’ jocks on the world’s highest rated radio station - KAKC, Tulsa.  They have collaborated musically in other cities over the centuries, listed below.

By drawing them together once again in LA, fate has handed them their heads on a platter.  Spirit Alley, the band of a lifetime.  Wow.  Jim and Rob have been writing songs and singing them together in Tulsa, Memphis, Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Dallas, Los Angeles, in airplanes, over the phone, in penthouses and in ratty basements with scum on the walls.  Now, as magic would have it, the chance to be fruitful and multiply in Spirit Alley.  Max joined in originally as the bass player of the mythical Tulsa/Memphis band Cargoe, produced by Rob and JIm, which in turn has produced another long-term, very fruitful relationship between the three of them, with lots of good songs.

Along comes Ben, popping right out into his Dad’s hands that crazy day the midwife was late in South Miami Heights, Florida.  Everybody knew right away he was destined to play, but we were all so hugely pleased to discover it would be in Spirit Alley - giving Jim and Ben the great gift of working together as father and son.  Tim, we found out, was a drummer hanging out with big sister Maia’s arts group in LA.  “He helped us out by drumming a couple of tunes, and then we thought he was our drummer,” said Spirit Alley.  As it turns out, he was.

In between, Tim’s been to London (to visit the Queen), Max has constructed American Airlines’ computerized networks, Ben’s been classically and studio trained at USC, Rob has been nominated for a Grammy, and Jim’s had a national request show on ABC Classic Rock.  Fun, but...not Spirit Alley.  There has never been    NOTHIN’    like Spirit Alley.

SPIRIT ALLEY LIVE L.A. PREMIERE
BLAZING HOT

May 22, 2009:  Spirit Alley performed a huge one-hour rock show for hundreds of screaming fans at W.J. Clinton Middle School in Los Angeles.  The band did not toot their own horns, as they are a guitar-based group.  However, the energy generated is estimated to have been sufficient to power every home, business and electric sign in the Los Angeles basin through September 2010.

"We were shocked at the reaction, and by 'shocked' I mean 'wide-eyed and laughing out loud'," commented someone in the band who might have been talking out of turn, but we doubt it. It was electrifying for everyone in the venue.  Clinton students blaze.

After the show, the five-man band hung out with the cool kids, signing autographs, mugging for pix, getting mobbed for t-shirts, and talking music.

Spirit Alley's next live appearance is, suspiciously, some kind of secret.  For now.  But we can say that it will be stunning, and intended to raise more than the roof of the House.
